The Terror Table welcomes their new friend Cassie to discuss mental illness in horror cinema, highlighting these themes with a discussion on HEREDITARY(2018).

Cassie is a PhD candidate at the University of Regina with a focus on representations of mental illness in the media. Cassie is also a sessional instructor at the University of Regina and has taught courses on inequality and social justice, mass media, the sociology of mental illness, Indigenous health policy and research, and has also developed online and blended courses. Cassie is also a co-owner of local eco-friendly store Mortise & Tenon, and is passionate about community-driven research, promoting positive narratives of health and wellbeing, and supporting community-based justice initiatives.

Cassie is also a big fan of horror movies, sci fi, and all things spooky. She wrote her master’s thesis on zombie films and social fears, and loves to investigate the things that scare us the most as individuals, and communities.
